Sintra, Portugal
Sintra, Portugal
Sintra, Portugal is a small town located about 15 miles away from Lisbon, Portugal. We decided to stay in Sintra for two nights. To get from Lisbon to Sintra there are two common ways, by bus or train. We decided to take a train from Rossio station, which is about a three minute walk from our hostel that we stayed at. A train leaves from the station every 30 minutes. By reloading our metro card (we saved .50€ each), it was 2.25€ per person, one way.
Once we got off the subway, there was so many people getting off as well.
The town was small, but pretty touristy for people who are traveling to Lisbon. We decided to drop our bags off at the guest house we are staying at. We do recommend this place if you are traveling with somebody and want to stay in a small, residential, private area. We stayed at Moura Lau Guesthouse.

Places to see: Sintra is full of palaces and castles! We were not able to see every single one of them, but we highly recommend seeing at least two to three of them to get a feel for the majestic scenery of Sintra. National Palace, Castle of the Moors, Parque da Liberdade, and The Regaleira.

Places to eat: Garagem Café - a small cafe that serves bagels, sandwiches, açaí bowls and toasts. We honestly didn’t eat at restaurants, we snacked throughout the day and took this time to rest. So not lots of recommendations for Sintra!

Highs: Beautiful scenery, a different taste of Portugal. Much smaller town (which was a plus for us!)
Lows: can be many tourists along the way. No big supermarkets.
Our next destination is Porto, Portugal! To get to Porto, we had to book a flixbus ticket online - online it told you exactly where the bus was going to pick you up, and it was spot on! Non stop to Porto takes exactly 3.5 hours. Head on to our next post for some beautiful pictures and things to do for this wonderful city!
