London, England

And… we have arrived in the United Kingdom!

The Tower Bridge

London is the capital and the largest city of England and the United Kingdom. It is one of the most visited city in Europe. It is one of the most diverse cities in the world, with an outstanding culture. It is pretty impossible to get bored here in London, there is something for everyone!

There are MANY districts of London. About every mile is a new area/ district of Greater London.

We stayed in the small area of Islington and Angel. We would definitely recommend this area! It is full of people but a few miles away from the major touristic sites that it is unite on most days.

Currency: the sterling pound £

Language: English

Where we stayed: Prime Backpackers Angel - a true backpackers hostel (not everyone who stayed here were backpackers though). Has a HUUUGE kitchen with a good atmosphere in the basement with plenty of seating for everyone to gather. Lots of books to read. Also has free towels and laundry for only £5.

Places to see:

There is so much! We met some friends that have lived here for almost a decade and they said there is something always new in London every time they go out. So this is a SHORT list of things we have seen and enjoyed.

Gerrard Place/ Chinatown - a Chinatown in London! Full of dim sum shops, Chinese buffets, and Peking duck restaurants. Prices are really good and remember to bring cash! Cash is king here!

Soho square - a lively hip area of London!

National Gallery

Westminister Palace - lies right on the River of Thames. A beautiful palace that you can attend their daily services as well. At the north end of the palace lies Big Ben. - nickname for the Great Bell, a tourist attraction that is always in construction 😂

London Eye - being Europe’s tallest observation wheel, it is the most popular paid tourist attraction in the UK as well. 3 million visitors every year! Honestly, it’s just a big Ferris wheel…

Buckingham Palace - London residence and administrative headquarters of the monarch of the UK. Often used for state occasions and royal hospitality.

St. James park

Horse Guards Parade

Tower of London - officially Her Majesty’s Royal Palace. A place that has played a prominent role in English history.

PUBS! PUBS! PUBS!

There are a bunch of pubs and quite literally one on almost every street. We stopped by only a few of them and wanted to share our favorites. They all have different atmospheres… so try several pubs on the quiet streets and see what vibes you prefer!

Prince Arthur - a small neighborhood pub of Shoreditch. Intimate and friendly setting on a quiet street makes it a hidden gem. They also have live music nights, heaps of board games, and great tunes.

The 3 crowns - open floor seating with a big screen. Perfect for watching sports and they also have move nights!

The new moon - a pub in the Leadenhall Market. Big, open seating area perfect for groups! Dimly lit with great drinks.

Our favorite pub that we have been to!
