US

(Written April 2021)

We are currently in midcoast Maine. Every day looks a bit different for us. Having only been married to each other for a month, we are still learning new things and seeing ways we can grow inside and out together.

For our second post, we wanted to give a short biography of our background of who we are and what we love to do!

I grew up in the mountains of North Georgia by two loving parents and 3 crazy brothers. There was never a dull moment in our household (poor mom). All four of us were homeschooled for the better part of our grade school years (again, poor mom).

My parents instilled so many things in my life that I am beyond grateful for. The importance of family, church, and outdoors.

I would say my life has always been full of adventure.

Dad would take my brothers and me camping while we were toddlers, exploring the Smoky Mountains and The Appalachian trail through my teenage years, discovering ultra running and a love for traveling in my twenties, and now planning to backpack around the world to different countries with my wife.

Meeting Sarah really changed my mindset about traveling. Before, I just had goals and dreams with no real plan to achieve them…

..Until Sarah popped into my life.

She basically laid everything on the table with what it really took to make things happen. How to save and budget, minimizing the material things I thought were “necessities”. I started implementing the things she practiced into my life almost immediately.

Now, we are married, and planning trip after trip. Adventure after adventure. Goal after goal.

I’m beyond excited to document our story end see where we end up together.

Sarah

I was born and raised in Georgia by my sweet and caring Korean parents. Korean culture was a priority in our household growing up. My parents wanted to make sure that I could speak the language and have an understanding of where I came from. However, the important thing they taught me was to love Jesus and follow Him. I went to college earlier than the rest of my age group and decided to go study abroad in South Korea, where my parents are from. I have grown to love serving at my church, Passion City. Seeing people love Christ and live it out so well brings me so much joy.

My love for traveling sparked during this trip and I wanted to travel all around the world and live like a local. I decided to take only a backpack weighing about 15 pounds. I backpacked for 3-4 months at a time to many different countries and continents. Looking back, I have now traveled to about 40 countries. I wouldn't change any of these experiences for a thing. In between my travels, I was also going to school for nursing. After graduating I worked as an Emergency Room nurse for a couple of years before transitioning to traveling nursing. After accepting my first travel assignment, I found myself in Charleston, SC. Now, I'm just (a bit) farther up the coastline... in Maine.

Back home, I love serving at my church, Passion City, being in this house, seeing people love Christ and live it out so well brings me so much joy. I have stepped away for a season due to travel nursing, but I can't wait to be back in this house.
