San Francisco, California

We stayed two nights at a hotel about 35 miles away from the heart of San Francisco. We decided to stop by and be a city tourist for the two days (we had some time before we needed to get to Yosemite National Park). We decided to go into the city early in the morning and explore town before it got too crazy so we left at about 7 am and drove to Fisherman’s Wharf.

We got breakfast at Cafe de Casa - a small pink house with lines of customers waiting in line to order… this place is a small eatery/ coffee shop that served Brazilian pastries. They also serve fresh juices, açaí bowls, and frozen pastries to make at home. Highly Recommend! We had the açaí bowl and the sandwich with Brazilian cream cheese and chicken. We met a sweet couple that has been to SFO a couple of times and gave us some recommendations as well so…. We decided to follow their recommendation and go to a place called the Buena Vista!

This place is known for ‘home of the worlds famous Irish coffee’. You walk in and we sat at the bar, the bartender makes the Irish coffee right in front of you and they have exact steps to make the drink.

1. Pour steaming hot water in the glass

2. Dump the hot water out

3. Add two sugar cubes

4. Pour coffee (they used Organic Peerless coffee)

5. Stir to dissolve

6. Pour a shot of Tullamore Dew

7. Add the whipped cream!

This whipped cream has been aged for 48 hours and frothed to a precise consistency in order to float! ….. and a sparkling clear, six-ounce, heat treated drink is ready! The Buena Vista Cafe serves up to 2,000 Irish coffees a day! Fun fact: they also hold the record for the largest Irish coffee in the Guinness Worlds Record!

The world's famous Irish coffee!

This area is pretty well known for having good restaurants, so we highly recommend eating at the Fisherman’s Wharf area if you ever decide to visit! We been to a few other places, but honestly we probably will not visit again if we ever come back.

We also got to see the Golden Gate Bridge, Little Italy, Lombard Street, Ghiradelli Square, and Chinatown (largest Chinatown in North America). Luckily, not a lot of tourist were here this season because of the coronavirus. So navigating these places did not take long at all due to having no crowds.

***SFO does requires you to have your Covid-19 Vaccination Card for indoor dining/seating.

Overall we are foodies so all we did was eat. haha. So nothing much to add to this post. We are super excited for Yosemite National Park as we are camping in Camp 4! A very historical campsite right in the Yosemite Valley, where rock climbing has started and where history continues in this area! we are super stoked as it is a lottery system to get a campsite here.
