A Short Itinerary for Seattle, Washington
We recently moved to Washington State and made time to explore the city of Seattle! If you are here for a short weekend visit or a layover this is your little guide!
First off, the city of Seattle is huge. Seattle is the largest city in the Pacific Northwest and the 15th largest city in the United States. So there are many towns around Seattle that are worth visiting. For the time being, we will only hit the main area of Seattle.
Stop by the famous THEO CHOCOLATES. It will be a quick 4 mile drive from the city center, and those 4 miles are worth it! Theo chocolates are all made from scratch! They also offer chocolate factory tours and other events such as, whiskey and chocolate pairings (with Fremont Mischief Distillery), beer and chocolate pairings (with Aslan Brewery), ganache making, etc.

Your next stop that will take most of your day to explore is PIKE PLACE MARKET. Pike Place Market is open 363 days a year. Pike Place has been a true icon for Seattle for more than 100 years. This 9 acre market was founded back in 1907, started by hundreds of farmers, individual, businesses, and Seattle residents (and still is)! Pike Place Market is one of the largest and oldest public markets in the United States.
Event dates to Pike Place Market
15th Annual Flower Festival - May 13 & 14
A festival where local farmers and independent business owners put together beautiful bouquets of flowers, this event has been taking place on every Mother’s Day weekend for the last 15 years!
Anniversary of Pike Place Market Preservation & Development Authority - June 3
The Pike Place Market was almost destroyed in the 1960s and due to this the Pike Place Market Preservation and Development Authority (PDA) started managing the Market! This is their 50th anniversary of maintaining and operating this historic market.
Annual Magic in the Market - November 25, 2023
A festival in the Market where you can meet Santa, listen to carols, sip some drinks, and of course the Pike Place Market lighting ceremony.

Okay so let’s get to food… food in Seattle is diverse, but everyone seems to go to the same place. It’s going to be hard to get away from the crowds, so we opted for trying out cool individual businesses we wanted to support (aside from Starbucks).
Rachel’s Ginger Beer - The original ginger beer is made out of water, lemons, organic sugar, and ginger. So so good. They have other delicious flavors such as white peach, passionfruit, pineapple, mango (our favorite!), and blood orange. The specific store in Pike Place Market is 21+ only, the other stores around Seattle are all ages! They serve classic cocktails out of the ginger beer and they are worth getting!

A Piroshky is an Eastern European “turnover sandwich” that is stuffed with different local flavors inside (sweet, savory, etc). They still use their original recipe to this day! Throughout the years, Piroshky Piroshky has also expanded to multiple locations throughout the Pacific Northwest.

End your day by going to the Starbucks Reserve - this location is the first Starbucks reserve Roastery. Located in the vibrant neighborhood of Capitol Hill, you not only have an extensive coffee menu, but wine, cocktails, and various food items as well.
Why not go to the actual first Starbucks location on Pike Place? Don’t waste your time. This location is far less busy compared to the first Starbucks in Pike Place. Plenty of seating, and a better ambiance. The aesthetics and interior design of the roastery is top notch.
